Berkhamsted Motorcycle Club Committee Members

Ron Humphries, President
Sorry No information supplied to date

Ian Reynolds, Chairman
Ian has been a keen motorcyclist all his adult life and, when much younger, spent several years road racing. These two wheeled sporting activities ceased when family and other commitments came along, and Ian focused on other things. However, it was always his intention to try observed trials, and, as road bikes became increasingly complex, with fuel injection and computers, and thus hard to fettle in the garage, Ian started trials in 2005 by buying an air cooled twin shock, the simplest motorcycle possible. Ian remains happy messing around on a Sunday morning with his bike on the Blue Route. Email >>

Martin Greeves, Treasurer (director of the Ltd Co)
Martin started trials as a Schoolboy at the age of 14 and kept going till he was about 25, when, as he claims his marriage stopped play. He then started riding again around the late 1990's. Martin Claims he would be winning the intermediates regularly if it wasn’t for those pesky youngsters!! While he is the Club Treasurer his wife perhaps does most of the hard work. Martin rides the expert route as Intermediate. Email Martin>>

Dave Porter, Director / Social Secretary (director of the Ltd Co) life time member
Dave Porter has had a go at most forms of bike sport, he started grass track sidecar driving back in the mists of time and then decided he was a better passenger! This led him to have a go at classic sidecar road-racing, then modern outfits, and then back to classic and modern. He also went back to grass track sidecars and in the not too distant past he also had a go at SOLO trials. He has held several posts in this club and others as well as serving on ACU committees, but what he really wants to do is get his road bikes going and take them on a track day, watch this space.

Ted North, vice president & Publicity Officer
After four years in the RAF Ted had a short career in Scrambling until his family came along. His sons took up Moto-Cross and one, Kevin trials. Visiting Nash to support him one day he heard and then saw a BSA going round which got him hooked. He bought himself a Triumph Cub and hasn't looked back since. Ted joined Berko in 1982 and was invited to the committee after a few years and became Chairman in 1990 a position he held until 2011.

 Ian sankey.

committee Member life time member
Ian was introduced to the club by Ray Timberlake and joined in 1998 at the age of 54. He found that he enjoyed observing so much he gave up his commitments with a local football club after some 36 years. He was elected to the committee in 2001 as an untitled committee member. In 2006 he gained a clerk of the course qualification and now helps run the beginners and wobblers trials. Although he cant ride trials these day himself he is still a keen member of the Greeves Association and owns a 1959 Greeves Scottish Trials bike.

Martin Howlett
Webmaster, Committee Member and lifetime member
Martin began riding trials around 1977 and joined the Berko club at around the same time. He then went on to have a dabble in Motocross before having a break due to the kids. (his son Scott rides trials today and his daughter Sam has a road bike) Martin got back into trials in 1984 and joined the committee later in 1990 as a non titled member and has not looked back since. Martin rides a modern bike in the clubman class and was on the expert route as an Intermediate in his day. Email >>
